ABOUT
Dr. Jared C. Dickerson is a DFW-based trombonist, educator, and sound engineer. Most recently, he won the 2nd Trombone position with the Shreveport Symphony Orchestra, where he will begin his first full season in 2025.
As an educator, Jared has taught private trombone and piano lessons for over a decade, served as Trombone Teaching Assistant at the University of Texas at Austin, and has led numerous masterclasses and group lessons for low brass studios in Austin and Los Angeles. His students have had successful auditions with TMEA All-Region and All-Area bands, and numerous TSSEC superior ratings. Additionally, he has supported and guided students as they successfully audition into some of the top music schools in the nation, securing hefty scholarships.
As a sound engineer, Jared has experience running intimate shows at small venues to massive corporate events and weddings. He is a first-call sound engineer for many up and coming musical groups in Austin and Dallas, TX and the surrounding areas primarily because he approaches sound engineering as an artform, not a technical skill. He has also mixed and mastered studio projects for Nadatrio and The UT Brass Ensemble. He self-produced his doctorate lecture recital as part of his final project and dissertation, which can be found on YouTube.
Jared earned his Trombone Performance degrees from Baylor University (BM), The Colburn School (MM), and The University of Texas at Austin (DMA).
